Peel potatoes and cut into halves or thirds depending on the size of the potato.
Boil potatoes in a large pot of water until slightly tender but still not fully cooked. Drain potatoes and rinse under cold water.
Cut potatoes in medium slices and set aside.
Melt butter in a large pot and add onions saute until tender. Once onions are cooked add in bacon and cook for about a minute.
Add sliced potatoes into the pot as well as both soups and milk. Add in pepper and simmer over medium heat till the potatoes are cooked fully occasionally stirring gently.
Once potatoes are cooked remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese and stir gently till combined.
