In a large bowl combine tomatoes, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, salt, pepper and basil. Let mixture sit for at least 15 minutes.
Cut loaf of bread in half and place cut side up on a baking sheet. Broil in oven for a few minutes until lightly browned.
Layer tomato mixture onto each piece of bread evenly. Sprinkle with mozzarella and broil for approximately 5 minutes until mozzarella is browned and bubbly.
