Cream the butter and the sugar in a medium bowl add in the almond extract.
In a separate medium bowl combine the flour and salt. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined. Add in the dried cherries.
Form the dough into a log (I shaped mine so the cookies would be triangular but you could make them circular or square). Wrap with saran and put in the fridge for an hour.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice dough into 1 centimeter slices. Place the cookies onto a parchment paper lined pan and bake for 10-15 minutes until edges are slightly browned. Let cool completely.
